In 1987, Institute “Mihajlo Pupin” in Belgrade developed the TIM 011, an 8-bit school computer based on Hitachi HD64180 CPU, a highly integrated Z80 derivative working on 6,144 MHz. In 2024, an international team recreated the computer’s motherboard and plans to extend it.
Next up in the queue to be dissected is a bit more complex cartridge, with the ability to have up to 64k of programs inside.
In the second part of this series we will explore the hardware of a simple 16k cartridge made by various producers in Ex-Yugoslavia.
In the days of the Commodore 64’s popularity in Ex-Yugoslavia, software piracy was “legal”, at least – not sanctioned. Every town had it’s software pirate, and you could get all new games on compilation tapes.
